Solaris
An Unix-based operating system developed by Sun Sun Microsystems, Solaris was originally developed to run on Sun's SPARC workstations, Solaris also runs on i386workstations from other vendors.
Solaris previously known as SunOS includes XWindows that uses OpenWindows, CDE or Gnome. Solaris currently supports multithreading, SMP symmetric multiprocessing (SMP), with (of course) TCPIP TCP/IP networking, and a centralized NIS network administration package. A WABI emulator, as well as PC Emulator boards are available to run Microsoft Windows applications.
